Fresh from international festival success, DJ Ahmet has captured audiences worldwide with its heartwarming blend of music, humour, family drama and youthful rebellion. Written and directed by Georgi M. Unkovski, the film won the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, as well as a Special Jury Award for Creative Vision.

Set in a remote rural village in North Macedonia, the film follows 15-year-old Ahmet, a shepherd with a dream of becoming a DJ. Torn between his father’s expectations, the traditions of his conservative community and the excitement of first love, Ahmet finds freedom and self-expression through electronic dance music.

With stunning landscapes, memorable characters and an infectious soundtrack, DJ Ahmet offers a moving and often funny story about finding your own voice.
