— DEADLINE INFO This event marks the final day entries will be accepted. The DOCA treasure hunt competition book, Devizes Details, was launched in Feb 2020 and had a original closing date for entries of 30th October 2020. It was selling well until the inevitable shut down has made it difficult to buy copies and therefore take part in the contest to locate all the intriguing architectural details around town featured in the book. It’s still possible to buy copies online from the DOCA website but in order to give as many people as possible the chance to buy a copy and take part in the contest we have decided to move the closing date into next year. The new closing date for entries will now be Saturday 29th May 2021. A new date for declaring the winners and awarding the prizes, will be announced later.

This is an exceptional year like no other, we call upon the community to come together to make this the biggest celebration of community togetherness for everyone after a very difficult period.
We have postponed the Carnival to what we hope is a safe date, this will enable us time to work with you and our local schools to make this Carnival really special.
The theme this year is ‘Go Wild’ – which we will need to do when we get to October after so much time in isolation!
We have an exciting lead float being built by ‘And Now’ who will be creating an Ark. We are looking for walking entries to follow the Ark in two’s as is traditional – it can be anything – 2 disco dancers, 2 sumo wrestlers – it’s up to you. Why not join in; you’ve plenty of time to get your costumes together. Please complete an entry form so we know who is going to join the section. Visit our website to do so 👉 https://www.docadevizes.org.uk/enter-the-carnival-parade/
While you are at home looking forward to the end of this crisis why not put you time to good use and make a costume, if you don’t want to participate in the parade why not collect materials for schools to use or make some elements that we can incorporate in our costume making. We will post links to tutorials and further information on this event page.
We are very grateful for investment from Arts Council England and Devizes Town Council which allow Carnival to happen and to Devizes Area Board who have supported us to deliver workshops to local schools and community groups.
