Devizes Food & Drink Festival Announce 2026 Program

Devizes Food & Drink Festival announced their program of events last week, and the box office opens at 9am on Monday 10th August. Let’s fill up with what’s on….

As usual the festival opens with a free event, the Street Food & Artisan Market at Devizes Market Place on Saturday 19th September from 10am until 4pm. Lots of street food to snack on, and produce to take home, a Wadworth pop-up pub, and live music from Strungout Ukuleles and Painted by Numbers.

In the evening, it’s Tales and Food of the Caribbean at The Wyvern Club, Church Walk; 7.00pm. Brunch with a View at Wellington Barn on the Sunday, 20th September; a generous Wiltshire-inspired brunch, including mini filled croissants, warm frittata and lardy cake. Sunday also offers Lunch with the Afghan Ladies at The Cheese Hall, Devizes. Wiltshire has a thriving Afghan community, who love to share their cuisine. Enjoy tasty home cooking, including delicately spiced vegetarian or chicken karahi, with kabuli pilau and salad.

Or perhaps a Teddy Bears’ Picnic sounds nicer, at Hillworth Park also on Sunday 20th September at 3pm. It’s only £4 for ten years and under, and boasts games, a storyteller, colouring, songs and a delicious teddy-themed picnic. All children need an accompanying adult and a teddy!

From Monday 21st, there’s Scandinavian inspired food and drink. A Hyggee Lunch; luxurious smorgasbord style lunch in the unique and truly spectacular eco Hyggee House overlooking a beautiful lake near Wellington Barn. And the Great Foodie Quiz at The Literary and Scientific Institute. 

Bonjour Bread! At the Cheese Hall, on Tuesday 22nd September at 12.30pm; exploring the realm of French artisan baking with Gaël Nicolle, Devizes’s own boulanger from Papa’s Bakery. Or Beer and Brownies at The Pour House, matching beer with chocolate, is that wise?! Ah, but brownies are coming from the Gourmet Brownie Kitchen; say no more.

Dining somewhere different begins on Wednesday 23rd September, one at the National Grid offices on Hopton! A presentation over a two course lunch, explaining the decommissioning of the pylons from Rowde to Bishops Cannings. The second, at Erlestoke Prison. A three-course dinner, with choices at each course, cooked and served in HMP Erlestoke by offenders and the prison catering team. 

Or, Everything Stops for Tea, at West Lavington Village Hall, offering traditional afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones and cake in a village hall setting, and big band music, featuring Glenn Miller and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. And Call My Wine Bluff at the Cheese Hall, finishes off Wednesday’s events.

Fresh produce legend Ken Mortimer of Heritage Fine Foods is joining forces with chef Peter Vaughan to share the truth behind your daily veg, plus tips on how to make the most of it, on Thursday 24th September at Vaughan’s Cookery School. Murder on the Dancefloor in the evening, at the Corn Exchange. The DJ is dead, the dancers are dodgy, and the alibis are weak. Spot the clues, count the hidden song titles, decide whodunnit, and win a prize.

Ready, Steady, Cook at Opendoors on Friday 25th September, at 12. Devizes Opendoors provides food and support for homeless and vulnerable people using ingredients that are usually donated or obtained at bargain price. Learn all about the charity and enjoy the dish of the day main course made by one of the Opendoors volunteer cooks, followed by a dessert YOU make in a scratch team from a stock of surprise ingredients.

Wadworth Brewery Tour, at their new Hopton site, also on Friday, the main sponsors of the event. Guests will receive special presentations from the Head Brewer and Chief Engineer.  Naturally there will be a beer tasting, and there will be cake! The exclusive Come Dine with Us at homes in and around Devizes is the icing on Friday;s cake, so be quick booking this one. 

Saturday 26th September, there’s a Lovely Lunch at St Andrew’s Church from 12pm. Two children from ages 2-12 are free with a paying adult for this collaboration lunch with St Andrew’s Church and Sustainable Devizes. A two-course vegetarian meal, homemade by volunteers, showcasing locally sourced ingredients. Cook Book Writer Joe Woodhouse will be at The Assembly Rooms. Quizzine, also at the Assembly Room; the last word in food quizzes.

And my personal favourite, The World Food Day at the Corn Exchange will be on Sunday 27th September at 12.30. Free entry, £1 per taster. Cooks from Taiwan and Lebanon & Syria  will be there for the first time this year, as well as old favourites, many with new dishes.
