Are you a budding musician aged between 13 and 18? Well, I tick neither box, but, as Trowbridge’s Old Town Hall is to introduce youth open mic sessions, I reckon it’s a brilliant incentive….
Of course, most open mics have no age restrictions, but you know how it can go sometimes, when there’s an aging hippy who wants to recite Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety, or slots for the youngest are shoved onto the graveyard shift!
Open mics are about networking, and making like-minded friends, where age groups tend to pair off better. Plus, the nervousness of starting off could be greatly increased if you’re in a room full of more experienced musicians.
So Oli & Stan present their first Youth Open Mic Night at The Old Town Hall on Wednesday 26th August, from 7:00 to 9:30pm.

Hats off to The Old Town Hall, a charity run multi-purpose venue in the heart of Trowbridge, not linked to the town council. It’s become a community arts centre, with lots of regular clubs and events.
There’s lots of stuff for youngsters, especially during school holidays. They include graffiti, animation, acting and samba workshops, Lego building club, story times, even a recycling fashion workshop. While adults can enjoy family clubbercise, zumba, yoga and there’s singing groups for all ages.
With film screenings, art exhibitions, live music, and open deck nights, Trowbridge Old Town Hall has got something for everyone… except me… hold on though, there’s a Pipe & Slippers rave on the 12th September; I’d better dust off my white gloves and whistle!
