On Saturday 29 August 2026, audiences at The Wharf Theatre, Devizes, will be invited into a world where respectability masks horror, science unleashes nightmares, and the line between man and monster disappears forever. Isoceles Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde arrives for one unforgettable night, bringing Robert Louis Stevenson’s immortal tale vividly and terrifyingly to life.
Adapted by Patrick Prior and performed by Pat Abernethy and Dave Marsden, this gripping production has enthralled audiences across Britain and Ireland since its first performance in 2006, earning praise for its intensity, imagination and dramatic power.
At first, Dr Henry Jekyll appears to have everything a man could desire: wealth, reputation and the admiration of society. Yet behind closed doors he is consumed by a dangerous question.
Can good and evil be separated?
Can darkness be extracted from the human soul?
His experiment succeeds.
And that is where the nightmare begins.
From the fog-filled streets of Victorian London emerges Edward Hyde, a creature of cruelty, violence and unrestrained wickedness. As Hyde grows stronger, a city is gripped by fear. Witnesses vanish into silence. Respectable citizens lock their doors. Rumours spread through the night. And Dr Jekyll discovers that some doors, once opened, can never be closed.
